Who I am:

I’m an independent strategic designer with 12+ years of work experience with international teams in Germany, the UK and France. Currently, I’m based in Lille.

I’m married, have two boys. I do sports as often as I can. I like photography– especially with my Fuji X100, enjoy good exhibitions but prefer to spend my time outside in nature. I play guitar and absolutely need a good cup of coffee to get going.

I’m trained in Industrial design and business sustainability management. I’m working with various clients, from design and impact agencies to start-ups and big corporates.

In 2020, I completed the Business Sustainability Management course at the Institute of Sustainability Leadership of Cambridge University.

My strength lies in questioning the existing, identifying and researching insights and translating them into tangible results.

What I believe:

If I’m honest, I think we are in big sh**t. Our relentless consumption of resources is pushing our planet to its limits and beyond.

”There is no business to be done on a dead planet” David Brower

To combat this, we must create solutions that reduce waste, optimize resources, and develop products and systems that are environmentally responsible.

I believe in the synergy of, nature and technology to create a holistic, meaningful, and sustainable impact on modern society.

Innovation is the key to competitiveness and longevity. Sustainable solutions are much more likely to be innovative, and sustainability leaders are more likely to be innovation leaders. Radical innovation, or in other words – extreme changes to existing products, processes and services, is needed to drive change on a sufficient scale—to leave our planet, our home in an acceptable state for my 2 boys.

What I do:

Constantly questioning and building and expanding my universe.

My approach combines sustainability management, future thinking and, design practices to create the world I believe in—and want to live in.

I do this as an external consultant or an integral part of your team.

I’m driven to adopt new ways of seeing, thinking, and interacting that result in sustainable, innovative solutions, combining physical and digital experiences.

My work spans strategic innovation, fictive exploration, defining vision, and planet-centred, experience-driven and product development projects.

If you would like to learn more about what I have been up to and the partners I have had the pleasure to work with, please have a look.

I’m always up for a coffee and a good chat. Just Leave me a message.

Creative director at Decathlon

Philipp is the ideal creative partner to support organizations facing societal and environmental challenges.
Through his contributions in methodology and strategic design, Philipp has enabled us to outline alternative business models for Decathlon.
I particularly value how smartly Philipp applies his creative mindset to tangible and desirable solutions, tackling complex issues that involve business constraints, intricate organizations, and narrative attributes.
It has been a genuine pleasure to collaborate, and I hope the experience will be renewed through projects that will enlighten, in a visionary way, the role that companies can play in the years to come.

Facts

Facts.
I believe they are the foundation of our actions and define the direction.

Here is one , which made me think:

Human superpower —

comparing environmental impact

For the first time in our planet’s history, a single species—and yes, that’s us—is dictating its future.

We are having as much effect on the Earth’s environment as a giant meteorite, mega-volcanoes or the movement of the continental plates.

We move more soil, rock and sediment each year than all the natural processes combined.

Therefore we as individuals and humans have huge power, which we must exercise through our choices – every day.

From the book “How to Save Our Planet'“ by Mark Maslin

Reads

The last 3 books I read

and what stuck with me:

“As a consumer you have huge power, exercise that power through your choices.”

“Western countries have produced over half the extra carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, while India has produced just 3%.”

“If we are going to save the world from the threat of global warming, we need to create a world worth saving.”

“If there are not timely and cumulative benefits for an individual or family, they will focus elsewhere.”

Building a successful business takes huge amounts of both dedication and luck.
